Herb Geller was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist, born on November 2, 1928, in Los Angeles, California. He passed away on December 19, 2013, in Hamburg, Germany. Throughout his career, Geller performed with notable musicians such as Joe Venuti, Claude Thornhill, Billy May, Maynard Ferguson, Shorty Rogers, Bill Hollman, Chet Baker, Clifford Brown - Max Roach, and Benny Goodman. In 1962, he moved to Berlin, Germany, and settled in Hamburg two years later. There, he became a member of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk orchestra, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. Geller's first wife, who was a bop pianist, was née Walsh and lived from 1928 to 1958.
