Herman H. Harper was an American bass vocalist and producer, primarily associated with the music industry in Nashville. Born on December 31, 1938, in Fountain Head, Tennessee, he passed away on December 17, 1993, at the age of 54 in Tennessee. Known for his deep bass voice, Harper sang in numerous vocal groups and played a significant role in securing live coverage of gospel music on the Grand Ole Opry and other cable television broadcasts. In December 1968, he left his position with the Oak Ridge Boys to work with Don Light Talent, the first-ever booking agency in gospel music, which represented the group at that time. He was the founder of the Gospel Music Trust Fund and established Harper and Associates (now known as The Harper Agency), a leading Southern Gospel talent agency, in 1985. In recognition of his contributions, he was posthumously inducted into the Southern Gospel Singers Hall of Fame in 1997.
