Herman's Hermits are an English beat rock band formed in Manchester in 1964, originally known as Herman & the Hermits. Discovered by manager Harvey Lisberg, the band gained prominence after producer Mickie Most took an interest in their performances. Most emphasized a clean-cut image for the group, contributing to their success in the mid-1960s. Their first hit, a cover of Earl-Jean's "I'm into Something Good," reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and number 13 in the US in late 1964. Although they never topped the British charts again, they achieved two number one hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" and "I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am," both tailored for a US audience, featuring Peter Noone's exaggerated Mancunian accent. The band's US records were released on the MGM label, leading to appearances in several MGM films, including When the Boys Meet the Girls (1965) and Hold On! (1966). They also starred in the film Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter (1968) and appeared in the 1965 anthology film Pop Gear. Herman's Hermits performed on popular television shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show, The Dean Martin Show, and The Jackie Gleason Show.
