High Inergy was a soul-disco quartet from Pasadena, California, active from 1977 to 1983. They were discovered by a sister of a notable figure and signed to a subsidiary label in 1977. The group was influenced by other artists and took their name from the 1976 Supremes album "High Energy," changing the 'e' in "energy" to an 'i'. High Inergy quickly achieved success with their R&B/pop hit "You Can't Turn Me Off (In the Middle of Turning Me On)," which reached #2 on the US R&B chart and #12 on the Pop chart. Throughout their career, they recorded eight albums and achieved a total of nine R&B hits before disbanding in 1984 to pursue solo careers.
