Holger Czukay was a German krautrock musician, born on March 24, 1938, in the Free City of Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland). He passed away on September 5, 2017, in Weilerswist, near Cologne, Germany. Czukay studied under a notable figure from 1963 to 1966 and co-founded a German rock group in 1968, where he played bass guitar and handled most of the recording and engineering. He was known for his early ambient albums and was influential for his use of radio sounds and sampling. Throughout his career, Czukay played various instruments, including bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion, drums, vocals, and French horn.
