Hooverphonic is a Belgian band formed in 1995, originally characterized as a trip-hop group. They quickly evolved their sound beyond a single genre. Initially named Hoover, they changed their name to Hooverphonic to avoid legal issues with the popular vacuum cleaner company and because other bands were using the Hoover name. The lineup has included a bassist, guitarist, and several lead singers, including (1996-1997), (1997-2008, 2020-2025), (2010-2015), and (2018-2020).
