Horacio Vaggione is an Argentine composer known for his work in electroacoustic and instrumental music. He co-founded the Experimental Music Center at the University of Córdoba in Argentina and has been active as a musician, teacher, and organizer in both South America and Europe. His music is frequently performed worldwide at major contemporary music centers and festivals. Vaggione has received several awards, including two Newcomp Computer Music prizes, four Bourges prizes, the International Computer Music Association Commission Award, and the DAAD Berlin Künstlerprogramm Award. Born in Argentina, Vaggione has resided in France since 1978, where he has collaborated with institutions such as IMEB in Bourges, Ina-GRM, and IRCAM in Paris. In 1986, he founded the Centre de Recherche Informatique et Création Musicale (CICM) at the University of Paris VIII. His scholarly articles have been published in various journals, including Contemporary Music Review, Computer Music Journal, Interface, and Musica Realta. Currently, Vaggione lives in Paris, where he serves as a Professor of Music at the University of Paris VIII and is the Director of the Doctoral Program in Computer Music.
