Horslips is an Irish band, widely recognized as the first Celtic-rock group. Originally active from 1970 to 1980, they briefly reunited from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2009 to 2012. Initially formed as Horslypse, the band gained prominence during their initial run. After their split in 1981, the rights to their back catalogue were sold without the band's consent, leading to reissues by Outlet on various formats, including vinyl, cassette, and CD. The original CD reissues were direct transfers with no remastering noted on the covers. Later reissues by Outlet were remastered with improved artwork. In 1999, Horslips successfully won a legal battle against Outlet, regaining the rights to their back catalogue. This led to a new remastering program, with the first official CD remasters released in 2000. All subsequent CD issues are official remasters, featuring enhanced sound quality and packaging.
