Hotel Morphila Orchester is an Austrian music project from Vienna, formed in 1978. The group is known for its unique blend of punk and art, embodying the spirit of "Punk meets Art." They disbanded in the 1980s but reformed in 2011. The name "Hotel Morphila" pays homage to the tradition of hotels and coffee houses in Vienna that once had their own orchestras, a tradition that has since faded. The name reflects various themes, including morbidness, dreams, and the monstrous, capturing the essence of their music, which is described as monster-rock by machines, neon-rock, and clinic-music for diverse audiences.
