Hum is an alternative rock band that originated in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, in 1989. The band was active until 2000 but reunited in 2003 and has since performed several reunion shows, including a tour of the U.S. in 2015. The current lineup includes Matt Talbott on rhythm guitar and vocals, Tim Lash on lead guitar, and Jeff Dimpsey on bass, all of whom have been with the band since its earlier years and returned for the reunions. Jason Gerken played drums for live performances in 2015 and is scheduled for 2026. The band's history includes several past members: Andy Switzky contributed guitar and vocals from 1989 to 1993, while Akis Boyatzis, Jeff Kropp, Joe Futrelle, Rod Van Huis, and Baltie de Lay played bass at various points in the band's early years. Bryan St. Pere was the drummer from 1990 until 2021, when he passed away.
