Humberto Elías Bedón, born in the small town of San Gabriel in the Carchi province, is a renowned romantic singer. He is known for his experiences at the José Julián Andrade School and Radio Ecos de Montúfar, where he interacted with young women through his interpretations. Humberto later settled in Quito, near the Espejo, Éxito, and Tarqui stations, with a view of the Itchimbía hill and Channel 6 of TV, which played a significant role in his career. Every Sunday, he became a popular attraction on Channel 6 TV, earning 20 sucres for his performances. His first recording, a 45 rpm single titled "My Crazy Youth," was sold for 25 sucres and became a sensation in homes during 1972 and 1973. During this time, he also collaborated with teacher Polibio Mayorga and joined Sayce in 1977. Humberto took on the role of his own businessman, promoting himself to various radio stations and media outlets. He was hired by Roberto Recalde of the Fadisa record label to record for two years, during which he released hits like "With You I Am Happy" and "Long Live Love." The latter became an anthem for young people in the barracks, selling 90,000 copies and earning him the first gold record, a distinction not achieved by Camilo Sesto or the Iracundos.
