Hüsker Dü was a punk/hardcore trio formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in January 1979. The band, whose name means "Do you remember" in Danish and Norwegian, consisted of guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart. Initially starting as a punk band, they evolved towards hardcore and later incorporated more melodic elements into their music. The band released seven albums before disbanding in January 1988 due to growing tensions between Mould and Hart, both of whom were the main songwriters. Contributing factors to the split included Hart's struggles with alcohol and drugs, as well as the suicide of their manager, David Savoy Jr. Following the breakup, Mould formed a new band, while Hart also started a separate project. Both Mould and Hart disbanded their respective groups in the mid-'90s to focus on their solo careers. Norton stepped away from the music business for several years to become a restaurant owner but returned to performing in the 2000s. Grant Hart passed away from cancer on September 14, 2017.
