I-Roy was born on June 28, 1942, in St. Thomas, Jamaica, and passed away on November 27, 1999, in Kingston, Jamaica. He was a renowned Toaster/DJ who established his own sound system, Son's Junior, in 1967. I-Roy served as the principal DJ for the "Supreme Ruler of Sound" and for the Stereo Hi Fi Sound System before moving to Kingston in the early 1970s. There, he became a DJ for Home Hi Fi Sound and the famous V Rocket Sound, among others. He recorded extensively from the 1970s to the 1980s.
