Ian Simmonds is a multifaceted producer, musician, and DJ known for his ability to bridge diverse sound aesthetics from recent music movements. He began his journey in the early 90s as a member of the iconic crew The Sandals, which blended Trip Hop, Acid Jazz, and Downbeat. Under his own name and the alias Juryman, he has released a prolific array of albums, 12” singles, and remixes for notable labels such as Studio! K7, NTone, CSSR, Pussyfoot, Compost, and G-Stone, contributing to a rich tapestry of timeless electronic sound. Currently based in Jena, the Welshman has embarked on a jazz poetry project titled ‘Wise in Time,’ collaborating with various musicians. His first album, “The Ballad of Den the Men,” resonates with those who cherish harmony and emotional expression. Additionally, he has released two EPs on the FAT sub-label Musik Krause. Simmonds' DJ sets are characterized by an industrial depth, seamlessly blending Dub, Downbeat, NuJazz, Broken Beat, House, Detroit, and Techno, creating a euphoric movement marathon. His style is distinguished by a sense of adventure and observance, showcasing a profound connection to jazz, tradition, and rhythm while remaining innovative and exhilarating.
