Ian Wellman is a drone and ambient artist based in Los Angeles, CA. His work is heavily influenced by ethnographic film, bioacoustics, and noise music, focusing on the interplay between human-made sounds and nature. Often collaborating with Aaron Bartell, he explores electromagnetic-based soundscapes through their project, ZZYZXZYZZ. Wellman's debut solo album, "Susan’s Last Breath Became the Chill in the Air and the Fog Over the City’s Night Sky," was released in 2018 by Dragon’s Eye Recordings. He also has a compilation of early works through Industrial Coast and contributed a piece to Touch Radio in 2019. Wellman holds a bachelor's degree in Documentary Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and works as a production sound mixer with IATSE 695. His professional experience includes collaborations with companies such as Universal Kids, Viacom, Adidas, Anyhow, and Dreamworks Kids. He has presented both solo and collaborative works at venues like Human Resources, Coaxial, and Sound Pedro.
