Ibex is an Ethiopian band that was formed from the core of another group. The original lineup included international musicians, such as a Zimbabwean guitarist and vocalist and percussionist Ismail Jingo, who left the country in the early 1970s. They were later replaced by new members for the second Ibex lineup. The band disbanded in 1979 when most of the musicians fled to Sudan due to the civil war and the communist Derg regime.
