Ice Cube, born on June 15, 1969, in South Central Los Angeles, California, is an American rapper, actor, and filmmaker. He began his career with the group C.I.A., which included him and his neighbor. He was introduced to his cousin by Jinx, and after performing with Dr. Dre, they teamed up with several artists to form the iconic gangsta rap group N.W.A. However, Cube left the group due to financial disputes with Ruthless Records, realizing he was being swindled out of significant earnings. Despite leaving N.W.A., Ice Cube sought to have Dre produce his solo debut, but Eazy-E, feeling betrayed, rejected this request. Cube then formed a new group with friends and family members. He looked for other producers for his solo work, approaching various artists until The Bomb Squad agreed to produce his first project. Ice Cube's initial solo release featured politically charged and culturally significant lyrics that went beyond the themes of gangbanging. He collaborated with New York hip-hop heavyweights and released "Amerikkka's Most Wanted," which became a critical success. His subsequent album, "Death Certificate," further solidified his reputation, addressing relevant social issues and featuring local L.A. legends.
