Insólito UniVerso is a Paris-based quartet that draws inspiration from a diverse array of influences, including psychedelic folk, electronic experimentation, and traditional Latin American music, with a particular focus on Venezuelan folklore. Founded in 2016 by lead singer María Fernanda Ruette and bassist Raúl Monsalve, the band aims to blend Venezuelan traditions with contemporary styles. They began their creative journey at the cultural center FGO Barbara in Paris, where keyboardist Edgar Bonilla joined, contributing jazz and classical elements to their sound. The lineup was completed by self-taught drummer Andrés Sequera, who joined just before their first recording session at La Fugitive in Paris. Their debut release was a 2-track 7” through London’s Olindo Records, followed by a full-length album co-produced by Malcolm Catto of The Heliocentric, set for release in Autumn 2018.
