Iron & Wine is the artist name of Sam Beam, an American singer-songwriter and painter born on July 26, 1974, in Columbia, South Carolina, and raised in Chapin, South Carolina. Before releasing his first album, he worked as a professor of film and cinematography at the University of Miami and Miami International University of Art & Design. Beam had been writing songs for seven years prior to recording his first demo. He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
