Irving Joseph was an American jazz pianist and orchestra leader, born on March 3, 1925, in the Bronx, New York. He studied piano and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was a member of a fleet band. After the war, Joseph was hired by a music group but left within a year to settle in New York City. He became the main accompanist for singer Horne, who was the wife of his musical director. Through this gig, he became acquainted with another singer, whom he later married. Irving Joseph passed away on March 28, 2000, in Long Island, New York.
