Isolée, the stage name of Rajko Müller, is a minimalist house producer known for his unique sound that blends elements of early eighties indie electronic pop and ambient techno. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Müller spent his childhood in Algeria from ages 7 to 12, where he attended a French primary school. During this time, he developed an interest in music after his parents gifted him an organ for Christmas. He initially experimented with synth-pop alongside a school friend, leading them to purchase a synthesizer and a drum computer. However, by the end of the eighties, he grew disenchanted with synth-pop and EBM, shifting his focus to rock and independent music. In the early nineties, his friends introduced him to house music, hip-hop, and techno, prompting him to revisit electronic music. Müller’s career took off when he gave a tape to his friend, DJ Andreas Baumecker, who owned Freundinnen records and worked in a record store frequented by members of Playhouse Records. Isolée is credited with creating the first microhouse record to chart, with his 2000 release "Rest" being recognized as the first full-length album in the genre.
