Isolée, real name Rajko Müller, is a minimalist house producer known for his music that evokes the indie electronic pop of the early eighties and ambient techno from the following decade. He is credited with creating the first microhouse record to chart in clubs, with his 2000 release "Rest" being recognized as the first full-length microhouse album. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Müller lived in Algeria from ages 7 to 12, attending a French primary school. His musical journey began when his parents gifted him an organ for Christmas, leading him to experiment with synth-pop alongside a school friend. However, he grew disenchanted with synth-pop and EBM by the late eighties, shifting his focus to rock and independent music. In the early nineties, friends introduced him to house music, hip-hop, and techno, prompting him to pursue electronic music once again. His career took off after he shared a tape with his friend and DJ Andreas Baumecker, who was associated with Freundinnen records and worked in a record store frequented by members of Playhouse Records.
