Ivan Lins is a Brazilian singer, keyboardist, and composer, born on June 16, 1945, in Rio de Janeiro. A self-taught pianist since the age of 18, he was heavily influenced by jazz and bossa nova. In the 1960s, while completing his degree in engineering, Lins participated in music festivals. His first significant recognition came in 1970 when he performed "O Amor É o Meu País" (co-written with Ronaldo Monteiro de Souza) at the finals of the 5th International Song Festival, where he placed second. Lins gained prominence as a composer with the song "Madalena," recorded by the renowned Brazilian singer Elis Regina. A Grammy nominee, he is one of the most recorded Brazilian composers internationally. His recent works include the double album "Viva Noel," a tribute to the Brazilian poet and composer Noel Rosa, and the CD "Um Novo Tempo," which features Christmas songs. In 1991, he founded a label.
