Ivo Malec (March 25, 1925 – August 14, 2019) was a Croatian composer born in Zagreb. He studied composition at Zagreb University and the Academy of Music. In 1955, he moved to Paris, where he became an active member of the Groupe de musique concrète, directed by Pierre Schaeffer, starting in 1959. Malec worked at the Research Services of the French national broadcasting services (ORTF) and was involved with the Groupe de recherche musicale (GRM). He co-founded Ensemble Musique Plus and taught composition at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris from 1972 to 1990, while also conducting. Throughout his career, he received the Grand prix du disque five times, as well as the Grand prix de la Sacem and the Grand prix national de la musique.
