Jack Steadman was a British classical violinist, violin professor, examiner, and author, born in 1920 and passing away on 3 September 2014 in Cornwall, South West England, UK. After World War II, he undertook a 'refresher course' and became a longtime member of the London Symphony Orchestra from 1947 to 1981. During his tenure with the LSO, he was elected to the Board of Directors and, at the age of 39, became Chairman, a position he held for several years. He also taught at the Royal College of Music and served as an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Additionally, he authored the book 'Violin Scales and Arpeggios Book I Grades 1-5'.
