Jackie DeShannon, born on August 21, 1941, in Hazel, Kentucky, is an American pop singer-songwriter known for her string of hit songs from the 1960s onward. She is recognized as one of the first female singer-songwriters of the rock 'n' roll era. Jackie has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. Throughout her career, her songs have been credited under various names, including Jackie Shannon, Jackie Dee, and Sharon Lee Myers. She is married and has a brother who is also a songwriter.
