Jackie Shane was a US-American vocalist born on May 15, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee. She relocated to Canada, where she became active in the club scenes of both Toronto and Montreal. Notably, Shane was a transgender woman, which was atypical for her era. She passed away on February 22, 2019.
