Jaki Whitren (1954 - November 24, 2016) was a British singer-songwriter known for her debut album, Raw But Tender, released in 1973 when she was just 19 years old. The album featured the single "Give Her The Day," which gained some airplay on BBC Radio 1, showcasing her blend of blues, folk, and rock influences. Whitren played guitar and banjo and toured in support of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. She contributed to the 1977 release of I Robot and later focused on her personal and musical relationship with her husband, fellow musician John Cartwright, exploring a more avant-garde jazz direction. Her only other album was the self-released Isis Unveiled. She passed away from cancer shortly after Cartwright's death from a heart attack.
