James Campbell, known as Jimmy Campbell, was a British songwriter and music publisher born on April 5, 1903, in Gosforth, Northumberland, England. He was primarily active during the 1920s and 1930s. Campbell formed a songwriting and publishing partnership with fellow Brit Campbell Connelly, and they collaborated with other songwriters as well. Some of their most notable compositions include "If I Had You" (1928), "Goodnight Sweetheart" (1931), and "Try A Little Tenderness" (1933). Additionally, they wrote "Midnight Stars And You" and "When The Organ Played At Twilight." The duo occasionally used the pseudonym Irving King. James Campbell passed away on August 19, 1967, in Hillingdon, London, England.
