James Knight & The Butlers were a soul group active during the 1960s and 1970s, hailing from Miami, Florida. The group was founded by James Knight, who served as the lead vocalist and songwriter. The lineup included Napoleon "Cool" Williams on bass guitar, Roscoe Rice on drums, Ernest "Snuff" Stewart on piano and organ, Robert "Flea" Johnson on trombone, Foster Newberry on trumpet, and Dwight "Hound" Jones on saxophone and arrangements. Throughout their career, several other artists collaborated with the group, including Ernest "Tim" Bethune on saxophone, Kenneth L. Washington on congas, Robert "Blind" Jackson on drums, Ronnie Walker on saxophone, Jimmy 'JJ' Jenkins on bass guitar, Greg Daniels on piano and organ, and Gary Jones on trumpet.
