James William Blades is a composer, producer, and sound artist known for his diverse productions across film, art exhibitions, documentaries, sound installations, theatre, and fashion. His work combines original compositions with soundscapes, creating detailed and textural productions that develop sonic narratives. Blades explores timbre, harmony, and musical aesthetics to blur the lines between music and sound, aiming to establish sonic landscapes that evoke new moods and meanings. In 2019, he collaborated with visual artist Sam Cannon to compose the soundtrack for the immersive experience "Forest Bath" at Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas. He also scored the music for Billy Gerard Frank's film "2nd Eulogy: Mind The Gap," which was produced by Lauren Beck and showcased at the Venice Biennale. That same year, he was commissioned by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London to create sound installations for three spaces titled "Threads," "Resonances," and "Reconstruct," exploring the communication between physical objects and sound. Blades continued his exploration of music, sound, and space in March 2019 by composing soundscapes for Theaster Gates’ "Amalgam" exhibition at the Palais De Tokyo in Paris.
