Jan Akkerman is a Dutch guitarist born on December 24, 1946, in Amsterdam. He is a founding member of the bands "Brainbox" and "Focus," alongside Thijs van Leer. Akkerman left Focus in 1976, after which he pursued a solo career. He is also noted to have a brother.
