Jan Hammer is a Czech-American pianist, keyboardist, drummer, composer, and bandleader, born on April 17, 1948, in Prague, former Czechoslovakia. He is the son of a Czech jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer, as well as a jazz vocalist. A U.S. resident since 1968, Hammer is best known for his work on soundtracks, particularly for the television series "Miami Vice" and the Czechoslovak pop-art fairytale "Šíleně smutná princezna" (The Incredibly Sad Princess, 1968). He is also the owner of a location in Kent, NY.
