Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski, born on March 27, 1936, in Kalisz, was a renowned Polish jazz saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor, journalist, and music critic. He passed away on May 7, 2024, in Warszawa. His nickname, Ptaszyn, translates to "Bird." Wroblewski made his professional debut at the International Jazz Festival in Sopot in 1956, performing as both a clarinetist and saxophonist with a quintet. In 1958, he appeared with the International Newport Band and later that year joined the Jazz Believers and another group. He led the Polish Radio Jazz Studio in the 1970s and worked as an arranger with them in the 1980s. Additionally, he supervised music workshops in Chodzież starting in 1982.
