Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski was a renowned Polish jazz saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor, journalist, and music critic, born on March 27, 1936, in Kalisz. He passed away on May 7, 2024, in Warszawa. Known by the nickname "Ptaszyn," which translates to "Bird," he made his professional debut at the International Jazz Festival in Sopot in 1956, performing as both a clarinetist and saxophonist with a quintet. In 1958, he appeared with the International Newport Band and later joined the Jazz Believers. Throughout the 1970s, he led the Polish Radio Jazz Studio and worked as an arranger with them in the 1980s. Additionally, he supervised music workshops in Chodzież starting in 1982.
