Janet Lawson was an American jazz singer and educator, born on November 13, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She gained recognition for her work as a jazz vocalist, particularly for her album released in 1981, which earned her a nomination for the "Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Female" Grammy Award that same year. Lawson lived and taught in New York City for most of her life. She passed away on January 22, 2021, in New Jersey, USA.
