**Bio: Jards Macalé** Jards Macalé, born Jards Anet da Silva on March 3, 1943, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a multifaceted artist known for his work as a singer, guitarist, composer, arranger, and actor. He immersed himself in music from a young age and formed friendships with various musicians from Bahia. In 1966, he directed a show for Maria Bethânia and became associated with the tropicalist movement. His theatrical performance of the rock song “Gotham City” at a festival in 1969 met with audience discontent. In 1970, Macalé traveled to London to connect with exiled Bahian artists. He returned to Brazil and released his first solo album, *Jards Macalé*, in 1972. The following year, he recorded the double album *Banquete dos Mendigos* live, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Human Rights Declaration, although it faced censorship and was released years later. In 1974, he introduced the romantic morbeauty aesthetic with his LP *Aprender a Nadar*, in collaboration with poet Waly Salomão. Notably, he once rented ferryboats for a party related to a new LP, culminating in a dive into the sea. In 1987, he released *Quatro Batutas e Um Coringa* but subsequently took an 11-year hiatus, returning only for the project *
