Javier Bátiz (June 3, 1944 - December 14, 2024) was a Mexican guitarist, singer, and composer known as a precursor of Mexican blues rock. Born in Tijuana, he was particularly prolific in adapting, arranging, and translating American rock, blues, funk, and R&B songs into Spanish. In 1957, he formed his first band and is recognized as a mentor to notable artists. Bátiz passed away in Tijuana, Baja California, due to cancer-related causes.
