Javier Batiz was a Mexican guitarist, singer, and composer born on June 3, 1944, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He was a precursor of Mexican blues rock and was known for his prolific work in adapting, arranging, and translating American rock, blues, funk, and R&B songs into Spanish. In 1957, he formed his first band and was allegedly a mentor to notable artists. He passed away on December 14, 2024, in Tijuana due to cancer-related causes.
