She began her musical career in the Chilean indie music scene in 2001 and gained wider recognition with her debut studio album, "Esquemas Juveniles," released in 2006. Mena's musical style features synthesized electronic sounds, although she initially created acoustic-oriented songs accompanied by guitar. In 2004, she opened for Argentinean electropop band Entre Ríos in Buenos Aires. Between 2003 and 2006, she was part of the electropop duo Prissa, releasing an EP titled "Ni Tú Ni Yo." Mena's first officially published song, "Sol de Invierno," appeared in the 2005 compilation album "Panorama Neutral," and her song "Cámara Lenta" was included in the soundtrack of the film "Se arrienda." Her debut album, produced by Cristian Heyne, received international attention, particularly through platforms like MySpace, and was critically acclaimed, being named the second-best album of the 2000s by Club Fonograma. In 2009, Mena opened for the Norwegian duo Kings of Convenience in Spain and Portugal
