Jay-Z, born on December 4, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, is an acclaimed American artist, rapper, songwriter, and producer. He founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1994 and opened Roc Nation in 2000. Jay-Z served as President of Def Jam Recordings from 2004 to 2007. In 2008, he co-founded Roc Nation with several key figures, including Chief Executive Officer Juan Perez and Vice Chairman Jay Brown. In 2015, he became a co-owner of a music streaming platform. Throughout his career, Jay-Z has won numerous awards, including 25 GRAMMYs, 21 BET Hip-Hop Awards, nine BET Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards. He made history as the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and the first living, solo hip-hop artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. In 2024, he received the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the GRAMMY Awards. His debut album, “Reasonable Doubt,” was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame in 2025.
