Jean Carn is an American R&B, soul, jazz, and disco singer, born on March 15, 1947, in Columbus, Georgia, USA. Known for her impressive five-octave vocal range, she began her recording career in the early 1970s with her then-husband, a pianist, and together they released three albums. Carn later provided backing vocals for various artists before launching her solo career in 1977. She played a significant role in the golden era of Philly soul, with prominent producers and writers contributing to her work. Over her career, which spans from 1977 to 2005, she has released nine studio albums. Throughout her journey, she has collaborated with several artists and has delivered notable tracks such as "Was That All It Was," "My Love Don't Come Easy," "Don't Let It Go To Your Head," and "Closer Than Close." Additionally, she has covered hits from artists like Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Aretha Franklin, The Spinners, Al Green, and Debby Boone.
