Jean Shepard (born November 21, 1933, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, USA – died September 25, 2016) was an influential American country and honky tonk singer-songwriter. Recognized as a pioneer for women in country music, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Notably, on November 21, 2015, Shepard became the first female member of the Grand Ole Opry to achieve 60 consecutive years of membership.
