**Jerry Knight** **Born:** April 17, 1952, Los Angeles **Died:** December 29, 1996 Jerry Knight was a talented singer and musician, known for his skills on bass, rhythm guitar, synthesizers, and keyboards. He was a founding member of the group Raydio, formed in 1977 alongside Ray Parker Jr., and gained recognition for his vocals on their hit "Jack and Jill." Knight later embarked on a solo career, releasing three albums and achieving moderate success with songs like "Overnight Sensation," "Perfect Fit," and "Turn It Out." In 1983, he teamed up with Ollie Brown to create the duo Ollie & Jerry. They contributed the title track to the soundtrack of the movie *Breakin'*, which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also recorded the title track for *Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo*, which reached #45 on the R&B charts. Although his solo career waned, Knight continued to make an impact in the music industry by writing and producing for various artists, including The Whispers, Patrice Rushen, DeBarge, Howard Hewett, and the renowned UK singer Elkie Brooks.
