Jerry McCain was an American blues singer and harmonica player, born on June 18, 1930, in Gadsden, Alabama. He passed away on March 28, 2012. Growing up as one of five children in a very poor household, Jerry earned a regular gig at the local radio station WETO during his teenage years, where he fronted a jug band using a homemade bass. Influenced by blues artist Little Walter, Jerry impressed him when he covered Walter's song "Can't Hold Out Much Longer." His big break came in October 1953 when Lillian McMurry of Diamond Recording, Inc. heard his demo and arranged for him to record four tracks. Two of these, "Wine O' Wine" and "East Of The Sun," were released on McMurry's Trumpet Records.
