Jerry Moore was born on September 21, 1941, in Jamestown, New York, and passed away in October 2015. He began his career as a trumpet player and doo-wop singer during his teenage years in New York. While attending college in Sumter, South Carolina, he was jailed for sitting in the "whites only" section of a restaurant. Moore later became involved with the Freedom Riders, facing imprisonment again in Alabama, and actively participated in the civil rights movement while also pursuing his music career in New York, Woodstock, and Los Angeles.
