Jesse Rae is a Scottish singer born in 1951 in St Boswells. Known for his funk/pop style, he has collaborated with notable musicians such as Roger Troutman, Bernie Worrell, Keith LeBlanc, Doug Wimbish, and Skip McDonald. His single "Over The Sea" reached number 65 on the UK Singles Chart in 1985, and the accompanying music video won a Vira award. Rae released an album titled "The Thistle" in 1987 through WEA, though it did not chart. As a songwriter, he is recognized for the 1982 hit single "Inside Out" by Odyssey. In addition to his music career, Rae ventured into politics, standing as an independent candidate for the Scottish Parliament in 2007 and again in 2011, receiving 318 and 308 votes respectively. A discussion about "Over The Sea" being chosen as the Tartan Army's national anthem took place on a message board in 2009. Rae has also supported Adam Ant during live performances, including a set at The Union Chapel in London in October 2010 and at the O2 Academy in Glasgow in May 2011, as well as several dates on Adam Ant's November 2011 tour.
