Jesse Saunders is a pioneering figure in House Music. He initially contributed to a band where he wrote and recorded the single "Fantasy," released in March 1984. In January 1984, he founded his own record label and released "On And On," which is recognized as the first house record. Before these achievements, Jesse had been editing and recording on reel-to-reel tape machines. He also founded Chicago's scene before handing it over in 1986. Despite moving to the West Coast for a major-label production deal by 1986, he maintained his legendary status in Chicago. In California, Saunders shifted his focus to R&B-oriented projects, such as Jesse's Gang, while also remixing and producing for various pop artists. In 1996, he released "Take Me Higher" and formed Broken Records, through which he has released hits like "What's This FX," "On & On 2003," "I Hear House Music," and "Now That We Found Love." He continues to tour and support new artists through his label. Jesse is also the brother of another notable figure.
