Jewel Ackah was born in 1950 in Axim, located in the Western Region of Ghana, to Emmanuel Ackah and Cecilia Dye. He recorded his first album, ‘Gyaki Mea,’ in 1974, which was a hit and earned him several awards. Over his career, Jewel Ackah released more than 27 albums, with notable songs including ‘Asomdowoe Hene,’ ‘Abena,’ ‘I’m in the Mood,’ ‘Joyce Sane Bra,’ and ‘Me Wo Bi.’ He passed away in April 2018 at the age of 73.
