Jhelisa is an American singer who began her musical journey singing in church at the age of five with her family's group, The Little David Family. At 19, she embarked on her recording career with a New Wave Soul band before relocating to the UK in 1991 to further her career. Since her solo debut in 1992, Jhelisa has established herself as a talented solo artist, excelling in singing, writing, and producing under her first name. Her most well-known track, "Friendly Pressure," has been remixed and re-released numerous times. Jhelisa has also contributed as a guest singer, providing backing vocals on debut albums and collaborating with various artists. Additionally, she has made guest appearances with jazz groups. She is related to other musicians, including her sister, who sang with a notable group, and her cousin, as well as her aunt and step-uncle, who are also in the music industry.
